Hi, i am back with an interesting piece of Compo that I have written
Title: Unjust Punishment
The majestic ball of fire made its dramatic entrance.
Although it was dark in the woods, my much-revered master had set out to fell
trees and hunt animals.
Meanwhile, I was guarding my master’s two year old daughter
who was sleeping in her baby cot. I watched her sleep with immense delight as
she had brought joy in my life by causing
her father to get me, an abandoned dog, adopted. She also had swept away
all the darkness in my life by treating me well.
Just then a snake was slithering by outside my house, eyeing
the cot. I knew somethimg was amiss and I could read the snake’s vile
intentions, which was to strike the little girl! Soon I began to vent my rage
on it. Thinking the snake would flee, I barked even more ferociously, seething
with rage. But, instead, it hissed menacingly as it slithered towards the
little girl, ignoring me. Without wavering, I pounced on it before it could
sink its venomous fangs into my master’s daughter. Flying into rage, I bit its
neck with my sharp canines. Blood oozed out from its body and soon the snake
lay in a pool of blood.
With satisfaction of saving my master’s daughter blanketing
over me, I went back to stand in front of the house, to be on the lookout. In a
few minutes, my master arrived. With a smile plastered on my face, I greeted
him as per usual. Instead of my master greeting me back with a smile, a medley
of reactions was followed. Upon seeing the streaks of blood around my mouth, my
master jumped to the conclusion that I had killed his daughter.
He turned into a raging bull and started to rant and rave
that I was a beast with no gratitude and that he should not have adopted me. These acerbic and vitriolic words pierced through my heart like an arrow. Seething
with rage, he kicked me hard and I landed in a pool of mud with a thud.He did
not leave me with that. It was then followed by a rain of blows and kicks.
Venting his frustration and grief on me, he threw a large ceramic pot at me. He
punched me on my right eye. I could not withstand the punishment which I
totally did not deserve. My master did not understand that I had
saved his daughter and that I was loyal to him. This feeling hurt me more, adding to the unjust punishment. Soon crimson blood oozed out of my body and I started to wince in pain. However my master did not show any pity on me.

Just then cries of my master’s daughter rang in the air.
Shocked, my master rushed to his daughter, who was in her room, crying out of
hunger. It was then that my master saw the snake which was found dead near the
cot. Then, he understood the entire situation. He felt guilty for his cruel
actions and for how unjustly he had punished me. He quickly rushed to me and
carried me out of the pool of mud with his eyes filled with guilt and remorse.
He apologized to me. Although he did not say it, I could understand it through
his eyes and through the way he treated my wounds and bruises with some natural
herbs. In a gesture of forgiveness, I pushed my paws around his waist, pulling him into a warm embrace after he finished treating me. And from that day onwards, my
master never doubted me again. Also, he understood the true meaning behind the
saying which goes ‘Dogs are man’s best friends’. That day etched in my mind too
as the bond between my master and I had strengthened.
